Weekend Children Ski Programs
Alpine Valley's enthusiastic children's Ski & Snowboarder Instructors are trained specifically in techniques for teaching children how to ski/snowboard and instilling a love for the sport and safe , fun nurturing environment.
Beginner Kinder Kids – First time ski ages 5-7.
- Introduction to the sport of skiing
- Learn how to put skis on and off by themselves
- Learn how to slow down, gliding, walking and stopping.
- Learn how to make controlled wedge turns on the beginner hill.
- Learn how to ride the wonder-carpet lifts
- $25.00 per child for a 2 hour lesson only

- Review on Beginner hills.
- Learn how to control speed by making a series of wedge turns (small and large) on the beginner hill.

- Introduction to the sport of Snowboarding
- Learn how to skate,edge,straight glides, side-slip, do J-turns and stop
- Introduce to a skidded traverse and the floating leaf maneuver
- Learn how to ride the Wonder-Carpet lifts
- $25.00 per child for a 2 hour lesson only
Intermediate Adventure Riders – Master edging to a stop for ages 8-12.
- Review on Beginner hill.
- Review the skidded traverse and floating leaf
- Introduce the garland maneuver
- Change the garland into a C-turn
- Now start linking skidded turns together down the fall line
- *Introduce how to ride the chair lift. (Based on child's ability to stop and control speed)
- $25.00 per child for a 2 hour lesson only
Times:
- Morning Lesson 10:00 am. to 12:00 pm.
- Afternoon Lesson 1:00 pm. to 3:00 pm.
All Classes are subject to availability and may sell out at any time. Maximum of 20 children per session and Minimum of 4 kids to run programs. We take first-come, first-served “basis - Sorry no reservation.) Lift tickets, rentals and helmets sold separately. Can be purchased @ lift ticket window. Start times – All lessons begin promptly at their designated times. Please allow enough time to arrange for lift tickets, equipment rentals, highly recommend renting helmets and bathroom stop before going to your designated meeting place. Due to the size of the Resort and the number of skiers enrolled in our activities, we are not able to accommodate late arrivals. Refunds will not be issued. Children must be completely potty-trained and willing to ski and snowboard.

- Learn how to ride the Wonder Carpet Lift
- $25.00 per person for one hour ( minimum of 4 people to run program)
Times: 9:00 am / 10:00 am / 11:00 am / Noon / Last group lesson at 1:00 pm

Private and Semi Private Lesson – all ability levels for ages 5 and up.
Our Ski and Snowboard Instructors will help you excel quickly while learning one-on-one. You will receive personalized attention. The Instructors focus on technique and skills to help you achieve your goals.
- Private lesson 1 hour (1 person) - $50.00
- Private lesson 2 hours (1 person) - $95.00
- Semi Private 1 hour (2 people) - $75.00
- Semi Private 1 hour (3 people) - $100.00
Your Responsibility Code
Skiing and snowboarding can be enjoyed in many ways. At Alpine Valley Resort you may see people using Alpine skis, snowboards, Telemark skis and other specialized equipment, such as that used by disabled. Regardless of how you decide to enjoy the slopes, always remember to show courtesy to others and beware that there are elements of risk in skiing and that common sense along with personal awareness can help reduce accidents and injury.
Observe the code listed below and share with skiers and riders the responsibility for a great skiing experience.
General Rules:
- Always stay in Control – and be able to STOP or avoid other people or object.
- People ahead of you have the right of way. It is your responsibility to avoid them.
- You must not stop where you obstruct a trail or are not visible from above.
- Always use devices to help prevent runway equipment.
- Observe all posted signs and warnings. Keep off closed trails and out of closed areas.
- Prior to using any lift, you must have the knowledge and ability to load, ride and exit safely.
Snowboard Park Safety tips & Rules:
- Make a plan- Know each feature you will use. Check the approach, take off and landing.
- Look before you leap- Go around the jump first.
- Easy style it – Start small and work your way up. Know your limits.
- Respect gets Respect – Respect the terrain and others. One person on a feature at a time.
Wait your turn and call your start. Stay off closed features and terrain.
Mountaineers Beginner Ski Program 2011-2012
Mountaineers is a club for young beginner skiers ages 5 to 10. This three week session with the same Alpine Valley resort professional instructor will allow each child to be trained specifically in techniques for children on how to ski and instilling the love for the sport in a safe, fun, nurturing environment.
Mountain Masters Intermediate Ski Program 2011-2012
Mountain Masters is a club for young intermediate skiers ages 5 to 10. This three week session with the same Alpine Valley Resort professional ski instructor. The skiers will learn how to control speed by make a series of wedge turns (small and large) on the beginner hill. Introduce how to match skis at beginning of turns and at the end of turns. Also, learn how to ride the chair lift. Please note that during the course of a lesson your child may be riding the lift alone.
Mountain Voyageurs Beginner Snowboard Program 2011-2012
Mountain Voyageurs is a club for young beginner snowboarder ages 7 to 12. This three week session with the same Alpine Valley Resort professional snowboard instructor. Each child will learn the correct techniques for snowboarding in a safe, fun, nurturing environment. Learn to ride the chair lift. Please note that during the course of a lesson your child may be riding the lift alone. Highly recommended renting a helmet for each session.

Times:
8:30 arrive at Ski School receive lift ticket and rental forms.

$130.00 three day lift tickets & 2 hour lesson.
$166.00 three day lift day tickets and three day ski rentals* & 2 hour lesson
$10.00 helmet rental per visit.
*Rentals must be returned at the end of the day
